Taking Dominion

As unrighteousness and injustice are being exposed, the storm rages all around us.  We can’t control the storm but we can prevent the storm from getting on the inside of us.  We still have dominion, as long as we are stewarding what we are responsible for.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds in the sky, and over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.

- Genesis 1:26

We misunderstand the concept of dominion.  God’s definition is different than man’s definition.  God rules and reigns through love, not through fear, anger, or pride.

Jesus called them over and said “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in high positions act as tyrants over them.  It must not be like that among you.  On the contrary, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave, just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.

- Matthew 20:25

Many times, we are fighting with people when in fact the real fight is within.  The darkness of our souls is like a virus.  To prevent it’s spreading we must confront it and take dominion over it.  In doing so, and applying the truth of God’s Word we are able to expose the lies and act contrary to them.

And remember that judgment is merciless for the one who judges others without mercy.  So, by showing mercy you take dominion over judgment!

 - James 2:13

In the same way, we take dominion over hate with love, selfishness with giving, chaos with peace, injustice with equity and unrighteousness with righteousness.

Thank you, God that we are able to do this only through Your Son and through the Holy Spirit who lives on the inside of us.  We declare Your Word over our nation and the nations of the world

Give the king your justice, O God and your righteousness to the royal son.  Help him to give true justice to your people, honourably and equally to all.  Then the mountains of influence will be fruitful, and from your righteousness prosperity and peace will flow to all the people.  May he defend the cause of the poor of the people, give deliverance to the children of the needy, and crush the oppressor! May they fear you while the sun and moon endure, throughout all generations!   Your favour will fall like rain upon our surrendered lives, like showers reviving the earth.  In his days may the righteous flourish, and peace abound, till the moon be no more.  May He have dominion from seas to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth.

Psalm 72: 1-8

Let it be according to Your Word.
