The King is in the field

As we align with God on the Hebrew calendar, we find ourselves entering the month of Elul. One of the characteristics represented for this month is the King is in the Field. This means God has specifically set aside a time over the course of the year where He is more accessible to us than any other time and the sky is the limit!

Let us go with complete trust to the throne of God. We will receive His loving kindness and have His loving favour to help us whenever we need it. - Hebrews 4:16

God is not like man and never gets tired of us coming to Him or asking Him for things. His door is always open. So much so, that He has set aside one complete month for more of it. This speaks of His very nature of wanting to be our BFF (Best Friend Forever).

Now all of us, whether Jews or Gentiles, may come to God the Father with the Holy Spirit’s help because of what Christ has done for us. - Ephesians 2:18

Many times, we think we have to be in a certain position, place or in the right frame of mind. But none of this matters to Him. He takes us as we are regardless of the condition of our heart and wants to fellowship with us even when we are messed up. People may not necessarily want to be around us, but God doesn’t care because He sees us complete when we are “in Christ”.

So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority. When you came to Christ, you were “circumcised,” but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision—the cutting away of your sinful nature. For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. - Colossians 2:10-13

This leads us to another characteristic for this month, which is a time to fix what has been broken. The amazing thing is that the solution is living on the inside of us. As we access the King in the field of our heart, He restores us and sends us out, thereby, causing us to be agents of life and hope to a broken world.

“If you get rid of unfair practices, quit blaming victims, quit gossiping about other people’s sins. If you are generous with the hungry and start giving yourselves to the down-and-out, your lives will begin to glow in the darkness, your shadowed lives will be bathed in sunlight. I will always show you where to go. I’ll give you a full life in the emptiest of places—firm muscles, strong bones. You’ll be like a well-watered garden, a gurgling spring that never runs dry. You’ll use the old rubble of past lives to build anew, rebuild the foundations from out of your past. You’ll be known as those who can fix anything, restore old ruins, rebuild and renovate, make the community livable again." - Isaiah 58:12

We say, yes Lord, let it be so!
